Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY)
PACEY was formed in 1977 and they are a charity who works alongside people who work in childcare and early years. They provide support and help so you can deliver quality care and learning for children and their families.
PACEY has some very useful guidance, support and training available on their website that can help different practitioners working throughout England and Wales with early years provision.
Remember that from 25th May 2018, practitioners must refer to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This replaces the Data Protection Act 1998 and strengthens the requirement to be clear and transparent about the use of personal and sensitive data, keep records that are accurate, relevant and up-to-date and ensure all records are kept securely and for no longer than is necessary for the purpose.
Check whether you need to register with the Information Commissioner’s Office if storing any personal information in a digital format – e.g. photographs, development plans. Records stored in a digital format must be password protected.
Review your data regularly, using the data protection audit tool and seek further advice as necessary
There is a very helpful “practice guidance” which has been developed for all early years and childcare practitioners by PACEY on their website
