The effects of poor nutrition on health

Good nutrition is based on eating a healthy balance of nutrient-rich foods and drinking plenty of water to fuel, repair and grow. Poor nutrition may include under-eating or over-eating, or by poor food choices that are low in nutritional value, contain little fibre or are high in fat, salt and/or sugar.

Eating an unhealthy diet can reduce energy levels, increase stress, reduce the ability to work due to tiredness, cause skin, hair and nails to lose condition and contribute to some of the following health conditions:

  • High blood pressure
  • High Cholesterol and Heart Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Osteoporosis
  • Tooth decay
